Meet Amanda

Minds4Success is my people development consultancy – I’m a highly experienced leadership facilitator, emotional intelligence expert, speaker, published author, and coaches’ coach.

For 12 years I have been working with leaders in corporations and small to medium-sized businesses to help them transform their personal effectiveness, particularly in the way they manage themselves and their relationships with others, so that they achieve their own inspired goals.

For the last 7 years I have also been teaching and training fellow coaches and trainers how to integrate applied emotional intelligence principles, tools and techniques into their own work so that they enhance and differentiate their service offering, whilst facilitating accelerated personal change with their own clients.

Why I Do What I Do

My own personal development journey began during my original career in corporate direct response marketing.  Whilst I was highly competent at my job and I thrived under the creative yet logical demands of direct response campaign management, I suffered from an often crushing self-consciousness that really got in the way of me being able to project myself in a credible way to some of my senior colleagues and leaders, or in environments where I had to speak publicly.  It was frustrating and disheartening, because I wasn’t influencing certain people who I needed to, and I couldn’t quite work out how to change that, but I knew I had to do something about it.

As I studied endless personal development and self-help books to break out of my limiting behaviours, I also came to understand a lot more about how our insecurities are played out through different behaviours, and that people who speak and act aggressively are often just as insecure as someone like me who struggled to speak up for herself.

As my self-confidence grew, new career opportunities opened up, and I moved to the supplier side of marketing, first as a key account manager responsible for a number of my organisation’s large client relationships, and then to a troubleshooting role, responsible for solving issues between client and internal systems.  I discovered that I had a natural ability for getting people around a table to identify in a non-judgmental way what had gone wrong and what needed to change to prevent a reoccurrence.

What I noticed was that 9 times out of 10, the root cause of any problem was not a technical issue, but a people issue.  I also noticed that a lot of people, people at all levels, were pretty unhappy in their jobs, disillusioned with their prospects, and feeling powerless and ineffective.  I decided that I wanted to do what I could to help people enjoy their time at work – and there began my coaching career.
